Absa Bank Mozambique has won the Best Corporate Bank and Best Private Bank in Mozambique awards at the Global Banking & Finance Awards 2026, conferred by international publication Global Banking & Finance Review. The distinctions cover financial services to corporates and specialised wealth management.

According to a statement issued to Diário Económico, the bank is receiving the corporate banking award for the second consecutive year. The institution attributes the recognition to its work supporting companies across their financing, investment, and expansion requirements.

Through its Corporate and Investment Banking division, Absa serves organisations of varying sizes and sectors, tailoring financial solutions to the specific characteristics of their operations and growth plans.

For Patrícia Darsam, director of the division, the relationship with corporate clients demands a deep understanding of each business and a long-term perspective.

"Each business has its own reality and requires more than a standardised response. Our work begins with understanding what drives each company, anticipating opportunities, and turning that knowledge into solutions that support the realisation of their ambitions," she said.

Darsam added that the award recognises the relationship the bank has built with Mozambique's corporate sector.

In private banking, Absa highlights its personalised support of families and investors in decisions relating to the protection, growth, diversification, and intergenerational transfer of wealth. According to the institution, this work is anchored in identifying the objectives and priorities of each individual client.

Denise Cruz, director of Personal and Private Banking at Absa Bank Mozambique, underlined the importance of this proximity in wealth management.

"Behind every portfolio there is a story, a set of choices, and a vision for the future. Understanding that reality allows us to build close relationships and offer solutions designed to protect, grow, and pass on what each client has built," she stated.

According to the statement, both divisions share an approach centred on understanding clients' current needs and future plans. In corporate banking, the focus falls on investment and business development; in private banking, on the preservation and appreciation of wealth.
