The South African Chamber of Business in Mozambique (SACBM) and the South African-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (SAPCC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote trade, facilitate investment, and bring together businesses from both countries and the Portuguese-speaking business community.

According to a statement published by Club of Mozambique, the agreement was signed during the SAPCC Business Excellence Awards 2026 ceremony, held in South Africa. The event brought together approximately 500 participants, including business executives, institutional representatives, and members of the regional business community.

The partnership provides for the organisation of trade missions and business delegations, joint events, and networking opportunities between companies. It also encompasses a bilateral trade and investment forum, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and enhanced communication between the two organisations.

According to the SACBM, the objective is to translate institutional cooperation into concrete business opportunities by facilitating access to new markets, supporting the identification of business partners, and enabling the development of cross-border activities.

Joint initiatives under the MOU are expected to help companies gain a better understanding of market opportunities and establish contacts with potential clients, suppliers, and investors. The memorandum thus seeks to strengthen business ties between Mozambique and South Africa, while also leveraging the SAPCC’s network within the Portuguese-speaking business community.

Founded in 2013, the SAPCC is a non-profit organisation that promotes trade relations and investment between Portugal and Southern Africa. According to its institutional profile, it has more than 2,000 registered companies and carries out activities focused on business networking, member representation, and the promotion of Portuguese and Luso-South African entrepreneurs and professionals.

The SACBM is dedicated to representing the interests of South African businesses in Mozambique and to promoting trade and investment between the two countries. The organisation provides a platform for networking and cooperation among companies seeking to develop business in both markets.
