The official opening of CAVAME-d Week is scheduled for this Tuesday, 20 October, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, Daniel Francisco Chapo.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Estêvão Tomás Rafael Pale, opened the technical and business sessions of CAVAME-d.
Mozambique’s government will auction seized rubies and other minerals as part of efforts to promote transparency in mineral trading and combat illicit trade, Pale announced in Nacala-Porto, Nampula province.
“We will also hold an auction of seized minerals, organised in accordance with the law and through transparent procedures. This action strengthens the fight against illicit channels and ensures the proper handling of resources seized by the state,” he said.
Pale also referred to the holding of a ruby auction, as part of initiatives considered relevant to the transparent trading of mineral resources, although he did not provide the planned dates, the quantities involved or the procedures for interested parties to participate.
The auctions form part of the programme for CAVAME-d Week 2026, held under the motto “Transforming Resources, Creating Opportunities and Value for Mozambique”.
CAVAME-d runs from 19 to 24 October and aims to bring together the government, investors, economic operators, academia and other stakeholders in the extractive sector.
The minister highlighted the importance of turning the potential of mineral and energy resources into productive investment capable of contributing to industrialisation, job creation, increased revenue and the strengthening of national companies.
In this context, the government will present the CAVAME-d Packages for the provinces of Niassa, Nampula, Inhambane and Gaza, which bring together structured investment opportunities for transforming raw materials into higher-value-added products.
The packages include information on available raw materials, products to be manufactured, investment and financing needs, required infrastructure, potential markets and the conditions necessary for project implementation.
Pale invited domestic and foreign investors to examine the opportunities and submit expressions of interest, while also urging Mozambican companies to establish strategic partnerships and participate in implementing the projects.
The minister also called for greater coordination among the public institutions involved, to ensure consistent responses and timely clarification for investors regarding procedures, responsibilities and institutional points of contact.
The CAVAME-d Week programme also includes, on 21 October, a conference on logistics and air transport needs for the extractive industry, bringing together operators from the mining, oil, logistics and aviation sectors.
From 22 to 24 October, the Nampula Annual Gem Fair (FAGENA) will take place, featuring exhibitions, scientific presentations, business meetings and activities involving the trading of gemstones and minerals.
