The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss monetary and fiscal policy in a global context marked by shocks and uncertainty, and to review the work of the outgoing Executive Director in representing the interests of member countries at the IMF.

It also reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between African countries and international financial institutions, particularly in strengthening Africa’s voice and participation in global economic and financial decision-making.

Loveira thanked Ubisse for his dedication, sense of institutional responsibility and commitment during his term. She also acknowledged the support provided by the Governors throughout his mandate, as well as the cooperation and solidarity shown by African representatives in multilateral institutions.

Ubisse was succeeded as Executive Director for the Africa Group 1 Constituency at the IMF by Angolan national Pedro Castro Silva, who took up the position after serving as an Alternate Executive Director from 2024 to 2026.
