The Government has appointed Paulo Jafar Tarmamade as chairman of the board of the Mozambican Dredging Company (EMODRAGA) and Celso Lourenço da Cunha as chairman of the board of the Zambezi Valley Development Agency.

The appointments were made through separate resolutions adopted on Tuesday at the 32nd session of the Council of Ministers (Cabinet).

At the same Cabinet session, the Government reviewed information on the fire that broke out on Sunday (1 November) in the Oncology Department of Maputo Central Hospital, where an investigation is still under way to establish the actual causes of the incident.

According to Government spokesperson Inocêncio Impissa, the Government expressed its gratitude for the wave of national and international solidarity it had received since the first moments following the incident.

In this context, members of the Council of Ministers also decided to donate at least one day’s salary each to support efforts to restore the services of the Oncology Department at Maputo Central Hospital.
