The Mozambique LNG project, operated by TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limitada (TEPMA1), held a Speed Meeting today in Maputo, bringing together more than 200 Mozambican companies. The Speed Meeting programme will continue next week with a new session to be held in the city of Pemba.

The Speed Meeting provided participating companies with an opportunity to engage directly with the Mozambique LNG project’s procurement teams, clarify questions regarding contracting processes, and obtain information on current and upcoming supply opportunities.

Edna Simbine, Local Content Manager at TEPMA1, stated: “For more Mozambican companies to benefit from the opportunities associated with Mozambique LNG, it is important that they understand the Project’s requirements and are prepared to respond competitively. Speed Meetings contribute to this objective by bringing suppliers and procurement teams closer together. This is one of the initiatives through which Mozambique LNG promotes local content and supports the development of national suppliers.”

The organisation of these Speed Meetings forms part of Mozambique LNG’s local content strategy and builds on the Project’s efforts to strengthen engagement with the national private sector.

As part of this effort, Mozambique LNG held business seminars in Palma, Pemba and Maputo in March this year, bringing together around 500 business leaders and representatives of business associations to present contracting opportunities and information on the Project’s procurement processes.

The development of local suppliers remains a strategic priority for Mozambique LNG, which plans to invest approximately US$4.5 billion in contracts with Mozambican companies during the construction phase.
