President of the Republic Daniel Chapo has appointed, through separate Presidential Orders, Rogério Sitoe and Manuel Veterano as members of the Higher Mass Media Council (CSCS).

Under Law No. 5/2026 of 26 May, the CSCS comprises 11 members, two of whom are appointed by the President of the Republic.

The other members of the CSCS are appointed by the Assembly of the Republic (four), organisations representing media professionals (three), the Higher Council of the Judiciary (one) and media companies (one), all of whom are sworn in before the President of the Republic.

Once the composition of this disciplinary and consultative body has been completed, the President of the Republic must, under the aforementioned law, appoint its President from among the two members he has appointed.

Established by the 1990 Constitution of the Republic, the CSCS is an independent central disciplinary and consultative body that carries out supervisory and sanctioning activities in the media sector and among entities operating in that field. It is also responsible for ensuring the independence of media organisations in exercising the rights to information and freedom of the press, as well as the rights of broadcast access and reply.
