Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) has announced scheduled power cuts on 24 and 25 October in several areas of Maputo, Matola and Chimoio, as well as in Maputo, Manica, Tete, Zambézia and Nampula provinces, as part of preventive maintenance work on electrical infrastructure.
In Maputo city, the cuts on Saturday, 24 October, will take place from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Central C and Polana Cimento C neighbourhoods. On Sunday, 25 October, the interruption is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., affecting parts of the Alto-Maé, Coop, Maxaquene A, B, C and D, Urbanização, Malhangalene A and B, Central B and Mafalala neighbourhoods.
In Maputo province, Sunday’s cuts will affect the Tchumene 1 and 2, Matola Gare, Canico and Maguaza neighbourhoods, as well as parts of Sidava, Tsalala and Gumbane, in addition to the localities of Tenga and Pessene and the town of Moamba, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. In Matola city and parts of the Matola Rio and Matola A neighbourhoods, the interruption will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In Manica province, power cuts are scheduled for the same Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., affecting the Agostinho Neto, Nhamassane, Tembwe, Heróis Moçambicanos, Samora Machel, Piloto, Chizombero and 25 de Junho neighbourhoods, as well as parts of neighbourhoods 4 and 5 and Centro Hípico in Chimoio city, the Matsinho administrative post and the locality of Chibata.
In Tete province, the cuts will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the districts of Macanga, Angónia and Tsangano, as well as part of Chiúta district.
In Zambézia province, the interruption is scheduled for the districts of Morrumbala and Derre and the Chimuara administrative post, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. In Naburi administrative post, the cut will take place from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In Nampula province, the districts of Moma and Larde will also be affected on Sunday, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
EDM advises that all electrical installations should be treated as permanently live, even during periods of interruption, as a precautionary measure.
