Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI) and the Mozambique-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CCMI) renewed a cooperation protocol on 9 October in Maputo, aimed at promoting investment and business cooperation between the two countries through the organisation of forums, trade missions, and bilateral meetings.
According to a BCI statement, the agreement was signed by José Furtado, chair of the bank’s executive committee, and Simone Santi, chair of the CCMI’s board of directors, at a ceremony attended by Italy’s Ambassador to Mozambique, Gabriele Annis.
At the signing, José Furtado highlighted the importance of the partnership in bringing the business communities of the two countries closer together and facilitating the realisation of investment projects.
He framed the renewal of the agreement within the context of BCI’s 30th anniversary celebrations, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to financing the Mozambican economy through banking solutions directed at companies and entrepreneurs.
Among the sectors identified as having the greatest potential for cooperation, Furtado cited energy, natural resources, oil and gas, tourism, infrastructure, agriculture, industry, and services, while advocating for greater participation by Mozambican companies in national and international value chains.
Simone Santi, for his part, underscored BCI’s contribution to the development of economic relations between Mozambique and Italy, and expressed the CCMI’s readiness to continue identifying business opportunities in collaboration with the bank and its members.
The protocol provides for the holding of business forums, trade missions, bilateral meetings, and company networking initiatives, in addition to facilitating access by CCMI member entities to BCI’s financial services and solutions.
The renewal extends the existing cooperation between the two institutions, seeking to bring the financial sector closer to businesses and to facilitate the development of new commercial and investment partnerships.
