The Mozambique LNG project, operated by TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limitada (TEPMA1), on Thursday, 5 November, brought together more than 200 Mozambican companies in Maputo for a business event aimed at connecting local suppliers with procurement teams and presenting current and future contracting opportunities. A follow-up session is scheduled for next week in Pemba.

According to a press release, the event — branded a Speed Meeting — allowed participants to speak directly with the teams responsible for the acquisition of goods and services, clarify questions about contracting procedures, and obtain information on existing and forthcoming supply opportunities.

"For more Mozambican companies to benefit from the opportunities associated with Mozambique LNG, it is important that they understand the project's requirements and are prepared to respond competitively. The Speed Meetings contribute to that objective by bringing suppliers and procurement teams closer together. This is one of the initiatives through which Mozambique LNG promotes local content and supports the development of national suppliers," said Edna Simbine, TEPMA1's Local Content Manager.

The Speed Meetings build on earlier private-sector outreach efforts. In March, Mozambique LNG organised business seminars in Palma, Pemba, and Maputo, which brought together approximately 500 entrepreneurs and representatives of business associations to present contracting opportunities and explain the project's supply processes.

The development of local suppliers remains a strategic priority for Mozambique LNG. The project expects to invest approximately US$4.5 billion in contracts with Mozambican companies during the construction phase.
