Investable.Africa, a digital platform designed to connect African startups with potential investors, has launched its open beta version, making available a database of more than 4,000 investment entities. The initiative aims to facilitate access to financing and promote business opportunities across all 54 countries on the continent.

According to the Disrupt Africa portal, the platform was created by Craig McLeod, founder of e-commerce company BoxCommerce, drawing on a network of contacts built over ten years through a WhatsApp group that brought together entrepreneurs and investors.

Investable.Africa allows startups to create profiles containing information about their projects, teams, track records, and funding requirements. Entrepreneurs can also share documents with potential investors and control access to financial and corporate information.

The platform additionally provides search tools that enable users to identify investors according to sector of activity, location, stage of company development, and the funding amounts they typically deploy.

Among the platform’s features is integration with artificial intelligence tools, including ChatGPT and Claude, which can assist entrepreneurs in shortlisting potential investors and drafting personalised outreach messages.

Investors, meanwhile, can search for startups across all 54 African countries, track business developments, and request access to company documents. Registration is free but subject to a verification process.

For entrepreneurs, creating a profile is also free. However, publishing that profile on the platform and accessing investor contact functionalities requires a subscription of US$99 per month or US$299 per year.

Investable.Africa states that it does not charge commissions on funding secured by startups, nor does it receive or manage invested funds, operating exclusively as a digital intermediary for contacts and information.
