The Instituto de Cereais de Moçambique (ICM) is promoting rice, maize, boer beans, cashew nuts, sesame and Gurué tea in India, aiming to showcase the diversity of the country's agricultural output, establish commercial contacts and attract international investors and partners to drive export growth.

The initiative took place within the framework of Mozambique's participation in the Bhoomi International Rice Conference (BIRC 2026), held from 23 to 25 October in New Delhi. The event brings together representatives from institutions, business operators and prospective buyers interested in exploring commercial opportunities in the agricultural sector.

The ICM forms part of the official delegation accompanying the Secretary of State for Trade, António do Rosário Grispos, and is represented by its Director-General, Luís Job Fazenda, who also participated in the conference's opening session.

At the exhibition stand, the institution presented a range of Mozambican agricultural products, with particular emphasis on domestically produced rice, maize, boer beans, cashew nuts, sesame and Gurué tea. The display is intended to highlight the country's agricultural offer and its commercial potential in international markets.

Mozambique's participation in the fair sought to bring domestic producers and economic operators closer to international buyers, creating opportunities to place national products in new markets. In the case of rice specifically, the conference served as a platform to present local production and establish contacts with traders, distributors and other actors in the cereal's value chain.

Beyond the exhibition, the ICM's agenda included meetings with business operators and prospective investors. These sessions aimed to build commercial relationships and identify cooperation opportunities that could contribute to the development of cereal value chains in Mozambique.

The contacts established may also open pathways to investment and partnerships designed to expand production capacity, improve marketing channels and strengthen the presence of Mozambican agricultural products in external markets.

The ICM's participation forms part of broader efforts to promote exports and stimulate foreign trade by seeking new markets for domestic production. In this context, the BIRC 2026 agro-commercial fair provided a venue to present Mozambican products, communicate business opportunities and establish ties between public institutions, companies, investors and prospective buyers.
