As part of initiatives implemented by the Foundation for Community Development (FDC) using its own funds, members of the Graça Machel Association in Xitlango, Mapai district, Gaza province, are already benefiting from the production of tomatoes and onions grown on a one-hectare plot. The crops were established with the aim of ensuring food for the association’s members’ own consumption, the association’s sustainability, and contributing to improved food and nutrition security for their families.

In addition to these crops, the association has two hectares of maize, 0.25 hectares of cassava and 0.25 hectares of orange-fleshed sweet potato vines.
