The Provincial Delegation of the National Roads Administration (ANE) in Manica has conditionally reopened traffic on the metal bridge over the Revuè River, on the N260 road between the city of Chimoio and the municipal town of Sussundenga.
According to a statement from ANE, repair work on the metal bridge has been partially completed, but the movement of light and heavy vehicles must be restricted to a maximum gross vehicle weight of 30 tonnes.
It further states that heavy vehicles with a gross weight exceeding 30 tonnes must use alternative routes and that failure to comply with the weight limit will result in penalties, including fines and the requirement to transfer any excess cargo.
The statement also notes that further repair and maintenance work on the bridge is still under way, including the tightening of bolts and the reinstatement of the pedestrian walkway. These activities may result in traffic restrictions or occasional interruptions for safety reasons.
