The Vice-President of the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), Onório Manuel, has called for stronger national industrialisation through the creation of industrial parks, the attraction of investment and the local production of components for megaprojects operating in Mozambique.
During a panel entitled “Investment Incentives and the Industrialisation of Mineral Resources in Mozambique”, held as part of CAVAME-d 2026, Onório Manuel highlighted ongoing progress in Nampula province, particularly the Topuito Industrial Park, a project initiated around five years ago in association with Kenmare, which aims to attract investors and stimulate industrial activity.
The CTA Vice-President also noted that efforts are under way to develop new industrial parks in coordination with the World Bank, with the aim of creating conditions for the establishment of production facilities and expanding local processing capacity.
“In the 21st century, it makes no sense for us to continue importing industrial parts that we can produce locally,” was the central message of his remarks, as he highlighted the need for megaprojects to strengthen their links with national industry by promoting the local production of parts and components used in their operations.
This approach aims to reduce dependence on imports, stimulate productive investment, develop domestic suppliers and ensure that the exploitation of mineral resources translates into greater added value for the Mozambican economy.
Onório Manuel’s remarks reinforce the CTA’s position in support of industrialisation based on infrastructure, investment, local content and the development of national productive capacity as pillars of business competitiveness, job creation and sustainable economic development.
