On 25 October, Millennium bim will celebrate its 31st anniversary with the 16th Millennium bim Race. The event returns to the streets of Maputo for a morning of sport, inclusion and socialising, bringing together participants of different ages and fitness levels.

This year’s edition features a 14-kilometre road race, a 9-kilometre event for athletes with disabilities and a 7-kilometre walk, offering different ways to take part in the same event.

The race retains its inclusive spirit, combining sporting competition with the participation of families and occasional runners. This year, its coincidence with the Bank’s anniversary gives the initiative an even more special significance.

For Rui Pedro, Chair of Millennium bim’s Executive Committee, the race is a way of sharing this occasion with the community.

“Celebrating 31 years of history alongside Mozambicans, on the streets of Maputo, is a very special way to mark this occasion. The Millennium bim Race reflects the spirit of closeness and inclusion that we seek to foster every day. We want every participant to feel part of this celebration and of the history we continue to build together,” Rui Pedro said.

The participation of athletes with disabilities remains one of the distinctive features of the Millennium bim Race, raising the profile of adaptive sport and bringing athletes with different backgrounds and experiences together at the same event.

The race will start at 6.30 am outside Millennium bim’s headquarters on Rua dos Desportistas. The programme will also include a Health Fair, entertainment activities and stretching sessions. At the closing ceremony, the highest-placed athletes in the different categories will be recognised.

With the event scheduled for 25 October, Millennium bim invites registered participants to prepare for this morning of celebration. Race kit collection will take place from 21 to 23 October, at the locations and times specified in the race regulations. More than a competition, the 16th Millennium bim Race will be an opportunity to celebrate the Bank’s 31st anniversary with the city and the people who are part of its history.
