The residents of Nsadzu, in Chifunde district, Tete province, celebrated the arrival of electricity yesterday, with the commissioning of a solar power plant installed by the Energy Fund (FUNAE).

The solar power infrastructure opens up new prospects for the development of the community. For several years, the lack of electricity had forced some residents of Nsadzu to travel to neighbouring Zambia to buy fresh produce and frozen goods, an alternative that involved high costs for families.

With the arrival of electricity, residents hope to reduce expenses and create new business opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, FUNAE Board Chairman Mety Gondola acknowledged the long wait experienced by residents of Nsadzu and apologised for the time it had taken to bring the project to fruition.

The official stressed that the commissioning of the power plant represents an important step towards addressing the concerns of Nsadzu residents.
