The Natural Resources and Environment Protection Police (PPRNMA) have arrested a man identified as S.C. Francisco while he was loading mineral material in a concession area to transport it to another location.
The arrest followed a tip-off from the public and led to the seizure of a vehicle capable of carrying up to five tonnes, a generator, ten shovels, pickaxes, sledgehammers and other equipment used in illegal mining.
Information gathered by our reporting team indicates that S. Francisco said he had been instructed to make several loads of mineral material from the area by a man identified as N. Lopes. The PPRNMA, stationed in Manica district, said Lopes fled when he noticed the police approaching.
