The Synapse Strategy Summit 2026 concluded with a positive assessment from its organisers, who aim to strengthen ties between foreign and Mozambican companies by fostering cooperation opportunities and knowledge sharing. The initiative is expected to extend its focus to the agricultural sector at the next edition, according to Synapse Strategy CEO David Roberto.
In an interview with Diário Económico, David Roberto said the gathering was productive, particularly due to the participation of companies keen to better understand the domestic market and establish contact with potential local partners. “That is the main objective of this event — to connect foreign companies with Mozambican companies,” he explained.
In his assessment, one of the principal obstacles to business development in the country remains the limited openness of some organisations to digital transformation. The CEO argued that resistance to adopting technological solutions constrains the modernisation of business processes and management capacity.
David Roberto cited the use of data centres as an example of this challenge, noting that some companies still show little confidence in using such infrastructure to host their services and information. In his view, this situation highlights the need to build trust in digital solutions and to improve understanding of their benefits for business management.
Asked about the changes he expects to see in organisations following the Summit, the CEO called for a shift in mindset regarding the capabilities of the domestic market. For David Roberto, Mozambican companies need to recognise their own potential and be more open to cooperation, even when they do not possess all the required technical expertise in-house.
“Our main objective is to make companies grow and for that collaboration among them to happen, without any fear that they do not have the true know-how of the matter,” he said.
The closer alignment between companies and the sharing of competencies thus emerge as central elements of the organisation’s vision for the development of the business environment. The expectation is that the contacts established during the summit will evolve into concrete partnerships and business opportunities.
For the next edition, Synapse intends to give greater attention to agriculture, a sector that David Roberto considers underrepresented in business debates despite its economic potential. He pointed to concerns related to security and investment as factors that may be contributing to the hesitancy of some companies to explore opportunities in this area.
The organisation also plans to deepen its strategic themes and track the progress of companies, seeking to identify solutions to the challenges they face. According to David Roberto, the next edition should benefit from the preparatory work and studies that Synapse intends to develop in order to make the Summit more comprehensive.
