President Daniel Chapo said on Friday that Mozambique's participation in the third edition of the Russia-Africa Summit has opened new opportunities for economic, technological and digital cooperation with the Russian Federation, aimed at driving the structural transformation of the national economy.
Reviewing the visit to Moscow, Chapo said the summit had deepened political and economic dialogue between Africa and Russia, resulting in the adoption of instruments to guide cooperation in the coming years. "This platform opens new possibilities for the relationship between Africa and the Russian Federation," he declared.
Among the documents approved, Chapo highlighted a three-year Action Plan that sets out cooperation priorities in the areas of peace and security, political dialogue, and sustainable economic development, in alignment with the African Union's Agenda 2063.
Chapo also underscored the potential for cooperation in Information and Communications Technology, digital transformation, and Artificial Intelligence for peaceful purposes. He said these areas represent opportunities for Mozambique and Africa at a time when technology is playing an increasingly important role in the competitiveness of global economies.
The president said the development of these areas could help modernise productive sectors and improve service delivery to citizens. "In Mozambique we are firmly committed to digital transformation, both in the public and private sectors, to improve services to citizens and accelerate our path towards economic independence," he said.
Chapo explained that Mozambique's participation in international forums of this kind is intended to bring the country closer to partners capable of supporting its economic development. "Our presence at forums of this nature has the purpose of bringing Mozambique and its people closer to partners who can contribute to the transformation of our economy," he said.

In this context, the government intends to attract investments that add value to national resources, promote technology transfer, strengthen Mozambican companies, and create employment. Chapo placed particular emphasis on the importance of supporting businesses owned by young people and women.
"We want to attract investments that valorise national resources, promote technology transfer, strengthen Mozambican companies — especially those of young people and women — and create jobs," Chapo said. He also took the opportunity to thank his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, for the invitation and the hospitality extended to the Mozambican delegation during the summit.
The third Russia-Africa Summit brought together leaders from 28 African countries to discuss the strengthening of political, economic, and security cooperation between Africa and the Russian Federation.
