Moza Banco and Empresa Moçambicana de Seguros (EMOSE, S.A.) on Tuesday, 27 October, signed a renewed insurance distribution and commercialisation agreement in Maputo, aimed at broadening access to financial protection solutions for individuals and businesses.

The new contract, according to a Moza Banco statement, extends a collaboration that began in 2018, when the two institutions signed their first agreement to make EMOSE insurance products available to Moza Banco customers.

“The new instrument replaces the previous one and updates the terms of the partnership, adapting them to market developments, changes in the regulatory framework of the insurance sector, and the growing use of digital channels by customers,” the statement reads.

Under the agreement, Moza Banco will be responsible for product distribution, while EMOSE will handle solution design, risk assessment and underwriting, policy issuance, and claims management. The offering covers both Life and Non-Life segments, including insurance linked to credit operations as well as independently contracted policies.

The agreement was signed by Manuel Soares, chair of the Executive Committee of Moza Banco, and Janfar Abdulai, chair of the Board of Directors of EMOSE. In his remarks, Manuel Soares underscored the role of banking in providing access to protection solutions, noting that “it is to the bank that people turn when they buy a home, purchase a vehicle, or invest in their business.”

“For Moza Banco, this partnership reflects a conviction: a bank that is closer to people is also a bank that helps protect what they build,” he said.

According to the statement, the partnership forms part of Moza Banco’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion — defined not only as access to banking products and services, but also as access to protection mechanisms that allow families and small businesses to manage the financial consequences of accidents, illness, or natural disasters.

With the renewal of this partnership, Moza Banco expands the range of protection solutions available to individuals and businesses and reaffirms its commitment to bringing instruments to Mozambicans that enable them to face the future with greater security.
