Wall Street closed Tuesday’s session with mixed results as corporate earnings and falling oil prices helped offset investor concerns about the artificial intelligence sector. The Dow Jones and S&P 500 advanced, while the Nasdaq posted a marginal decline.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.02% to 52,497.42 points, and the S&P 500 gained 0.29% to 7,712.76 points. The technology-heavy Nasdaq edged down 0.02% to 26,424.82 points.

Among the session’s notable movers, General Motors fell 6.83% despite reporting quarterly revenues of approximately $50 billion, above expectations. Investors reacted negatively to the automaker’s full-year outlook.

Moving in the opposite direction, 3M gained 5.78% after posting results that exceeded analyst estimates, with adjusted revenues of $6.6 billion.

The session was also marked by the announcement of Salesforce’s agreement to acquire marketing platform Braze for approximately $5.66 billion. Shares in Braze surged 51.7%, while Salesforce slipped marginally, falling 0.01%.

Losses predominated in the semiconductor sector, with Micron down 0.98%, AMD off 0.62%, Intel declining 0.37%, and Nvidia shedding 0.29%. By contrast, Seagate advanced 2.17% and CoreWeave gained 1.65%.

Investors also monitored earnings updates from major technology companies. Netflix fell 1.66% and SpaceX slipped 0.11% ahead of their respective quarterly results. Meta declined 1.59%, while Tesla advanced 1.54% on the eve of its own earnings release.

After the close of trading, SpaceX reported revenues and profits above analyst expectations, driven primarily by its artificial intelligence and connectivity operations.
