Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI) hosted the official launch of the new digital platform of the Association of Fuel Retailers of Mozambique (ARCOMOC) at its auditorium in Maputo on Monday, 2 November. The platform was developed in partnership with the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) and marks an important step in the modernisation and digital transformation of the fuel sector in the country.

Designed to connect fuel operators in all provinces of Mozambique in real time, the platform aims to simplify access to information, reduce bureaucracy, bring members closer together and strengthen coordination with strategic partners, contributing to a more integrated, efficient and competitive sector.

As host, BCI’s Director of Public Relations, Heisler Castelo David, highlighted the importance of digital transformation as a driver of economic development. “Innovation, modernisation and efficiency are fundamental factors in building a more dynamic, competitive and inclusive economy. These objectives are aligned with the Bank’s vision of actively contributing to Mozambique’s progress,” he said.

The Bank’s representative also reiterated the institution’s commitment to initiatives that promote the transformation of productive sectors. “When the organisers invite us to think about the future of fuel retail, BCI remains committed to building a Future with Confidence, supporting initiatives that drive the country’s growth, transformation and sustainable development,” he added.

For his part, ARCOMOC President Luís Pereira said the new platform represents a strategic tool for strengthening the association and enhancing the value of its members. On the occasion, he highlighted innovation, the review of commercial margins, security of supply and economic sustainability as key issues for the future of the sector. He also stressed that the platform would make it possible to centralise information and create the conditions for faster and more effective communication between operators.

The Deputy National Director for Hydrocarbons and Fuels, José Muhai, reaffirmed the authorities’ commitment to improving the regulatory environment, noting that reforms to the sector’s legal framework are under way. These are intended to ensure conditions for more productive and transparent activity, safeguarding the sustainability of operators and consumer satisfaction.

CTA Vice-President Amâncio Gume congratulated ARCOMOC on the initiative, saying that the project demonstrated strategic vision, organisational capacity and a spirit of renewal at a time when digitalisation is playing an increasingly decisive role in business competitiveness.

For BCI, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026, hosting an initiative of this kind reaffirms its position as a partner in national economic development. Over the past three decades, the Bank has sought to support projects that add value, promote innovation and contribute to strengthening Mozambique’s business sector.
