A semi-industrial complex for the storage, processing and marketing of agricultural products began operating this Tuesday in Chókwè, Gaza Province.
The initiative was launched by the Gaza Agricultural Development Cooperative (CoopDAZA), which invested more than 32 million meticais in the project.
The facility, inaugurated by Gaza Province Secretary of State Jaime Neto, represents a significant step towards transforming family farming, strengthening the cooperative movement and, above all, promoting women’s empowerment.
The complex has the capacity to process 15 tonnes of beans and 22 tonnes of onions per month, as well as other products such as sweet potatoes and chilli peppers.
“This facility will help reduce post-harvest losses,” Neto stressed.
The initiative was implemented with support from a Canadian non-governmental organisation operating in Mozambique, which provides assistance to the cooperative movement through technical training, mentoring in leadership and organisational and financial development, as well as support for value chains.
