The solo exhibition BLOOM by visual artist Fiona Wishman Oliveira is on view at the Centro Cultural Moçambicano-Alemão (CCMA) in Maputo until 14 November 2026. Bringing together expressive portraits of women, the exhibition explores femininity, identity, resilience and transformation through a distinctive combination of oil painting and embroidery.

In BLOOM, Wishman Oliveira combines oil painting with textile elements, incorporating embroidered details and wool threads that extend beyond the edges of the canvas. The dialogue between paint, thread and texture creates depth, movement and a tactile dimension in each portrait. Through her depictions of women, the artist reflects on the complexity of the female experience, exploring strength and vulnerability, individual expression and personal growth. The title BLOOM evokes the idea of continual growth and transformation, embracing the many moments of womanhood.
