Gapi is supporting producers in Montepuez in formalizing their economic activities and creating conditions for access to financing. This initiative falls under the economic empowerment component of the AGROVIDA Project’s Top-up , through which Gapi SI implements a financing line supported by the French Development Agency (AFD) .
One of the main barriers identified among producers has been the lack of or irregularity of the documentation necessary for formalizing businesses and preparing applications for funding. In some cases, beneficiaries do not have an Identity Card or have expired documents, a situation aggravated by the impacts of displacement caused by the conflict in Cabo Delgado.
To meet this challenge, Gapi, through its branch in Montepuez , supports beneficiaries in obtaining and regularizing their personal documents, contributing to the legalization of their economic activities and the preparation of financing processes.

This preparatory work enabled seven producers to move forward with access to financing totaling 1,315,000 meticais , through the financing line supported by the AFD.
The resources are intended for investment in their productive and economic activities, contributing to business expansion, increased production, and improved livelihoods for beneficiary families.

Experience shows how support for documentation, formalization, and business preparation can help reduce barriers and create conditions for small producers to access financing and strengthen their economic activities.
AGROVIDA is implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation, ADPP, Gapi, h2n, SmartFarming and Thirdway Partners , with funding from the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands .
