Narciso Nhacila was sworn in today as Press Advisor to the Prime Minister. A journalist and lawyer, Nhacila fills the vacancy within the Office of the Prime Minister following the passing of José Sixpence last June.
Prior to his appointment, Narciso Nhacila served in the Sports Desk of Sociedade do Notícias. His predecessor, José Sixpence, was likewise forged at Sociedade do Notícias, specifically at the weekly newspaper Domingo.
At the swearing-in ceremony—held alongside the Prime Minister’s Advisors for Parliamentary and Governance Affairs, Joaquina Gumeta, and Diplomatic Affairs, Cristóvão Gemo—Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levi urged the team to dedicate their technical expertise and energy toward assisting and supporting the Prime Minister in monitoring and executing the Government’s Five-Year Program as well as the Economic and Social Plans and State Budgets, “ensuring that every planned and implemented action results in sustainable development and real improvements in the living conditions of the population across the entire national territory.”
Nhacila began his journalism career at Rádio Terra Verde, but it was in 1998 that he joined the sports newspaper Desafio, where he developed his career until his transition to the Office of the Prime Minister.
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Sports Pedagogy from the Pedagogical University, Nhacila also earned a Law degree from Eduardo Mondlane University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Labor Law at the Technical University of Mozambique.
