Mozambique’s National Roads Administration (ANE) has announced a temporary suspension of road traffic on National Highway 13 (N13) on 5 and 6 November, between 06h00 and 17h00, to carry out repair works on the bridge over the Natete river in the district of Ribáuè, Nampula province.

According to an ANE communiqué, the infrastructure works will run from 3 to 7 November, during which traffic will be restricted, with a full closure scheduled for 5 and 6 November, as reported by Jornal Notícias.

The works include the replacement of damaged panels and deck sections, as well as the installation of new safety elements, aimed at improving traffic conditions and ensuring the safety of road users.

To minimise disruption caused by the works, ANE is advising motorists to use an alternative route beginning at the Namigonha junction, passing through Iapala, and rejoining the N13 near the bridge over the Thi Thi river.

The authority is also urging hauliers and motorists to observe load limits, comply with temporary road signage, and follow the instructions of traffic management authorities throughout the intervention period.

The N13 is an important road link between the districts of Ribáuè and Malema in Nampula province, used for the movement of both passengers and goods.

The restrictions are expected to cause disruption along the affected stretch, particularly during the two days of full closure, and ANE is recommending that all road users make use of the designated alternative routes.
