The Mozambican Association for Family Development (AMODEFA), through its Zambézia Provincial Delegation, held its Ordinary Provincial Assembly on 24 October in the city of Quelimane. The meeting aimed to evaluate the organisation's performance, report on activities carried out, and set priorities for institutional strengthening.

According to information provided to Diário Económico, the assembly was chaired by Elizete Tomás, president of the Provincial Directive Council, and was attended by association members, representatives of the Youth Action Movement (YAM), prospective members, and collaborators. The gathering served as a space for democratic participation and reflection on the progress achieved and the challenges the organisation faces.

Among the main items on the agenda were the review of the 2025 programmatic and financial reports for the Local Initiative, SHIFTS, and YAM projects, as well as an assessment of the 2027 activity plans for the SHIFTS, BRAVE–Ossongolo, and YAM projects. These initiatives fall within AMODEFA's areas of community intervention, sexual and reproductive health, and youth mobilisation.

The assembly also examined the status of the organisation's membership, highlighting the need to increase associative participation and encourage greater involvement in activities and decision-making. The meeting additionally recognised the contribution of the strategic partners supporting the implementation of the various projects.

Among the partners acknowledged were the International Planned Parenthood Federation and the Embassy of Sweden, through Ipas Mozambique, under the Local Initiative focused on community intervention; the Government of Canada, through Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights, under the SHIFTS project; and Finland, through Plan International, under the BRAVE–Ossongolo initiative.

Another key point was the role of YAM, AMODEFA's youth structure, in community mobilisation, the promotion of human rights, and advocacy for access to information and sexual and reproductive health services. The assembly recognised young people as fundamental actors in advancing the organisation's mission.

At the close of proceedings, the president of the Provincial Directive Council called for unity, commitment, and active participation from members. She underscored that AMODEFA's sustainability also depends on the engagement of its members, the value placed on voluntary work, and the strengthening of local structures to promote and defend sexual and reproductive rights and health.
