Wall Street closed mixed on Thursday, 22 October, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average the only major index ending in positive territory while the Nasdaq composite shed more than 2.50%.

The Dow Jones edged up 0.02% to close at 52,866.85 points, while the S&P 500 declined 1.21% to 7,663.39 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq fell 2.60% to end the session at 26,008.86 points.

US equities came under pressure on Thursday as investors digested earnings results from major technology companies including Meta and Tesla, while a sharp rally in oil prices, tensions in the debt market, and growing doubts over the financing of Artificial Intelligence (AI) weighed on sentiment.
