Millennium bim has delivered more than one hundred hospital supplies to Tete Provincial Hospital, aiming to improve inpatient conditions and enhance patient comfort, particularly in the paediatric, nursery and maternity wards.
According to a statement from the bank, the donation includes mattresses, blankets and bed linen, provided in response to needs identified by the hospital itself. The wards covered by the assessment collectively operate 150 beds.
“Caring for a patient also involves the conditions in which they are received and supported during their stay. It is with this principle that Millennium bim strengthens its engagement in the health sector, through an initiative supporting Tete Provincial Hospital,” the statement read.
Millennium bim was represented at the handover ceremony by its commercial director, Arlindo Graça, who said the initiative was designed to address specific needs at the hospital and contribute to better reception conditions for patients and improved working conditions for healthcare professionals.
“When we talk about health, we naturally talk about the quality of care provided, but also about the conditions in which each person is received at a moment of greater vulnerability. This initiative arises from a concrete need identified by the hospital itself, and allows us to provide a response that, while simple, can make a difference in the daily lives of patients and the professionals who care for them,” Graça said.
The handover ceremony was also attended by the Secretary of State for Tete Province, Cristina de Jesus Xavier Mafumo; the administrator of Tete City District, Ilda Macome; Cecília Matolino, representing the Mayor of Tete City; and the Provincial Director of Health Services, Xarifo Gentino. Also present were members of state representation services, a representative of the Catholic Church, hospital management, doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers.
According to the bank’s statement, the initiative falls under the health pillar of Millennium bim’s corporate social responsibility programme, “Mais Moçambique pra Mim”, and follows earlier hospital support actions, including a distribution of supplies at Quelimane Central Hospital.
Millennium bim is also preparing to rehabilitate and equip the Paediatric Physiotherapy Unit at Maputo Central Hospital.
