Xiaomi has unveiled the Mijia Smart Clothes Dryer 3 Max, a ceiling-mounted smart drying rack designed to dry clothes indoors, optimise living space, and serve as a ceiling light fixture when not in use.

The unit is installed on the ceiling and features a motorised mechanism that lowers the rack to allow users to hang garments, before retracting upward to enable drying without occupying floor space.

The device integrates a 1,250-watt heating system and a 770-millimetre air outlet. According to Xiaomi, these specifications allow laundry to dry up to five times faster than conventional outdoor air-drying.

The airflow efficiency is complemented by a drying net with a declared antibacterial efficacy of 99%, which operates in conjunction with plasma-release technology to deliver a dual-effect sterilisation system targeting microorganisms.

The load-bearing structure uses a high-performance DC motor paired with a 2.0-millimetre braided steel cable, supporting loads of up to 45 kilograms. The central telescopic rod extends to a total length of 2.4 metres and is divided into five distinct organisational zones. The manufacturer states the capacity can accommodate approximately 80 garments or up to two heavy duvets simultaneously.

When retracted, the unit measures just nine centimetres in thickness and can function as a ceiling lamp, supported by a 42-inch lighting panel.

As part of Xiaomi’s smart home ecosystem, the Mijia 3 Max is operated remotely via the company’s proprietary application. Through the mobile interface, users can adjust the rack height, set drying timers, and programme automated routines.

Among the daily automation options, the application allows users to configure fixed schedules for raising or lowering the structure — automatically bringing it down during the day for garment organisation and retracting it to ceiling level at night to maximise usable room space.
